Cent to Square Feet — South India Guide

In Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Cent (also spelled cent) is a standard plot unit. 1 Cent = 435.6 sq ft — a fixed nationwide factor in BhumiMeter's data (435.6 sq ft). Unlike Bigha, no state toggle is required for the core conversion, but local names (Ground, Ankanam) still appear alongside cent in deeds — always read the document unit label.

What is a cent?

One cent equals one hundredth of an acre in the customary Indian chain: acre (43,560 sq ft) ÷ 100 = 435.6 sq ft per cent. Village brokers say "5 cent house plot" or "10 cent agricultural"; urban listings may switch to square feet or square metres for RERA. Converting cent to sq ft lets you compare a Kerala ₹/cent quote with a Bengaluru ₹/sq ft apartment.

Cent vs Ground, Guntha, and Gaj

Tamil Nadu Ground is a different fixed unit — do not swap with cent without converting. Maharashtra/Karnataka agricultural listings may use Guntha (1,089 sq ft) — see Guntha guide. North Indian Gaj = 9 sq ft. The India land units pillar maps all fixed units side by side.
